I cannot believe it has been almost 5 months since we lost the incredible Dr Wayne Dyer. About two weeks before Wayne passed away, I was fortunate enough to attend his “I Am Light” workshop in Melbourne. It was such an amazing weekend filled with so much wisdom, so much love and so many ahuh moments. I would love to share just some of the wisdom and special moments from that weekend.
You Are Light
A rose opens its petals and no one, not even scientists, can understand why. The rose listens to the universal intelligence. We too have this potential, if we listen. We are infinite spiritual beings having a temporary human experience. When we understand this we can eliminate our suffering. We are all beginning-less and endless. Your body is a temple that houses your soul and should be treated like a temple with the utmost respect. Never stop fighting to be yourself. Light is at the core of who we are. It has nothing to do with religion at all. It is the awareness of your unlimitedness. You ARE light!
Do you want to live 1 year 90 times or, would you rather live 90 years? On the topic of your soul calling, Wayne asked: What excites you? What is your burning desire? You must tap into the burning desires which was placed into your heart, over which you had no control. Allow the universal intelligence to direct and guide you and move you through the path of your calling. Your job is to become the waking dreamer.
Reprogram your Subconscious Mind
Wayne taught us that to reprogram the subconscious mind, we must change the way we look at the situation and observe it differently. The low points in our lives can and will bring us to a place that we could have never imagined we would get to. In these moments, we should we grateful and let go and watch it unfold.
The ego is our false self which makes us believe that who we are is what we have and what we do. But what happens when what we have or what we do goes away? You can never be anything other than what YOU think you are. We become what we think about. Also, we must become independent of the opinion of other people.
The orange analogy
The emotion that comes out of us when we are criticised, abandoned, pressured etc, was already something inside of ourselves. Wayne gave us the orange analogy to explain this deeper. If you squeeze an orange, you will get orange juice. No matter who squeezes it, what time of day it is or how they do it, when an orange is squeezed it produces orange juice. Why would you allow yourself to be upset over something that is not yours? If someone puts you down and you don’t accept it or allow it to affect you then it is their ‘stuff’. Be the orange, no matter what anyone does to you, the same thing comes out: love.
Wayne’s daughter Skye also sang at the workshop, a beautiful version of “I Am Light”. Unfortunately I couldn’t find a clip from the Melbourne workshop but this is the same song at another workshop. Take a listen…
And one of my favourite pieces of wisdom of the day:
If you follow the herd, you will end up stepping in shit!
Choose peace. Choose love. Choose light.
