How to Regain Balance When the Rug is Pulled Out From Under You…

A few months ago the rug got pulled out from under me…and I fell…hard.

One morning I walked into my corporate job and was told that I was being made redundant.

Very rarely am I EVER speechless.

I then proceeded to walk back into my office and burst into tears.

Suffice to say the next couple of weeks was spent struggling to get out of bed and feeling pretty damn depressed and sorry for myself. It’s funny, when you hear about it happening to other people you think that how awful that must be. Until it happened to me I had no idea how awful it really is and how it makes a person feel. It’s like a slap in the face and just keeps knocking the wind out of you every time you think about it. Your confidence level and faith in your abilities plummets and all you think about is the ‘what ifs’.

Fortunately for me it didn’t take long for me to get a job offer, two in fact. Well, I didn’t know it at the time but this was set to be a pretty big turning point for me.

One job offered me more financially but with that came unpredictable hours, a long commute and a lot of pressure and stress. The second job was not as financially abundant but was close to home, great hours and a lot less pressure and stress.

My immediate response was take the job with more money!

But my intuition was pretty loud…

This time you need to focus on you. It’s time to really commit to your health and healing. You need less pressure and less stress. Working closer to home and less hours means you can focus on building your coaching business and focus on what you love to do.

Whoaaaaa. I couldn’t do that…could I?…

Well long story short…that is exactly what I did.

I am a few weeks into my new job now and I am happier than I have been for a long time.

Now I get to go to a job that is enjoyable and pays my bills, but I am not completely drained by the time I get home. This supports me to be able to come home and do what lights me up, like coaching my amazing clients and writing for my blog.

So many people said to me at the time it happened “Oh well you know everything happens for a reason”. I have never been so enraged by that phrase until then! I mean bless them they were only trying to help and I probably have been guilty of doing the same thing!

But now the anger and resentment has subsided and I have trusted my intuition and moved forward I can totally see that now.

Now I have so much more energy (physically, emotionally and spiritually!) I am SO excited for what this means for 2017!

I had the time and space to finally be able to launch my life coaching business and there is so much more coming throughout the year so stay tuned.

So when the rug is pulled out from under you…remember that it is more than ok to be angry or sad or resentful.

But from my experience the Universe will often do for us what we cannot do for ourselves. Of course we are given many signs and little nudges. But when we ignore them for long enough then sometimes it will intervene to put us back on the right path. And chances are you have been asking, even somewhat subconsciously, for something to change or for help from the Universe.

You might not see it at the time but in time when the fog clears you will regain your balance and see that you are always being guided along your path. So always trust your intuition and remember to have faith when times are tough.

I would love for you to share your experiences with me in the comments below. When has the rug been pulled out from under you and how did you regain your balance?
